Based on just some quick googling... I definitely don't agree with all their choices being "best", but I do agree with quite a few of them.

I plan to try several or all of them in this site, eventually. I've highlighted the one that is currently being used.

The Best Website Fonts That Go Together in 2022

I've included my own score/rank number next to the pairs that I've pulled out below, as I like them from most favorite to least.

(#1 heading)
Open Sans & Roboto

Playfair Display and Montserrat -- I like the Montserrat, but it may be too open and loopy for large / long amounts of text.

(#1 body)
Merriweather and Lato -- I like the Lato as body font.

Amatic SC and Josefin Slab -- The Amatic SC font is quirky for the heading font. Maybe I'll go this direction at some point.

Cinzel and Raleway -- I like Raleway, but very similar to Montserrat it may be too open and loopy.

(#2 heading)
(#2 body)
PT Sans Narrow and PT Sans -- I like both of these. PT Sans Narrow for headings is interesting; condensed compared to other heading fonts.

Ratings in this list are per the article.

  1. Roboto -- The long-running #1 spot. But Roboto Condensed is also the sixth most popular font, and Roboto Slab also makes an appearance at number 12.
  2. Open Sans
  3. Lato
  4. Montserrat -- Again, I like it, but maybe too loopy.
  5. Oswald -- No. Yuck.
  6. Source Sans Pro -- Not sure if I like one, or not.
  7. Slabo -- No. Yuck.
  8. Raleway -- Again, I like it, but maybe too loopy.
  9. PT Sans -- Interesting, but not yet sure if I like it. Maybe if my other current likes don't work out.
  10. Merriweather -- A serif font used for headings; not for me. But maybe check out the sans version, Merriweather Sans.
